FAQs .::. Frequently Asked Questions .::. Life of Adventure
Q: Am I in danger of wild animals?
A: Yes and No. Yes, because you are going to be out in nature
in their natural habitat so there is always the danger that
you may be hurt. However, although the possibility is real
the probability is very low. All the trips take place in
National Parks which are highly populated during the summer
months. The animals in the parks have become very accustomed
to co-habiting with people. All of the dangerous animals
are removed from the park by the rangers as soon as they
become a threat. When animal attacks do occur they usually
happen to those who are traveling by themselves or with
1 or 2 other people. We will be traveling in a very large
group of 8-12. There is safety in numbers. Finally, we will
be carrying two canisters of bear spray. Bear spray is a
very strong pepper spray that effectively deters most any
animal.
Q: What happens if I get sick, hurt or cannot continue?
A: We will do our best to arrange transportation to the
nearest airport. From there you can get a flight home. You
will be responsible for any additional cost this may incur.
Q: Is the $100 deposit refundable if I end up not
being able to go?
A: If someone is on the waiting list and is able to take
your spot, then yes. If not, we will do our best to refund
as much as we are able to.
Q: Will there be any rock climbing or repelling?
A: No
Q: Will I be able to use my cell phone while on
this trip?
A: No. All phones will be taken up at the beginning of the
trip. However, you will be allowed to use your phone during
certain times on the trip to call home and check in with
parents.
Q: Will I need any extra money?
A: You will not need any extra money since everything you
will need is provided in the cost of the trip. However,
if you would like to get some souvenirs, snacks, or other
items then it would be a good idea to bring a little spending
cash.
Q: What kind of shape do I have to be in for this
trip?
A: You don’t have to be in incredible shape to be
apart of this trip. Remember, this trip is designed for
the beginner/intermediate hiker and backpacker in mind.
However, this trip is also designed to push you mentally,
physically, and spiritually. The day hikes will be anywhere
from 2-10 miles long. The overnight hikes will most likely
be between 5-10 miles a day. The Coed trips will be less
intensive then the All Guys trips.
Q: What do I need to bring on the trip with me?
A: A detailed ‘What to Bring List’ will be mailed
to you once you have been accepted.
Q: How much film should I bring?
A: If you are like most people, a lot. I would recommend
bringing a digital camera. Before we come back I (Jeremy)
will load everyone's pictures onto my computer and burn
a DVD with everyone’s pictures on it and give everyone
a copy.
